Best Practice Database KommEN – Communal Energy NRW

Projektentwicklung Öffentlichkeitsarbeit

“KommEN – Communal Energy NRW” is a best practice database for municipalities and from municipalities. It documents over 300 good practice examples on energy efficiency, energy saving and renewable energy and has been available to municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2001.
B.&S.U. mbH, National Coordinator of the European Energy Award created the concept and content design of the KommEN internet portal, as well as being responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the internet portal. The portal is hosted by EnergieAgentur.NRW and was commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The informative articles contain optimal solutions and support local stakeholders to implement their own plans. A suitable approach can be quickly ascertained and contact partners for the exchange of experience can be reliably identified. The classification of best-practice projects follows the topics of the European Energy Award, which defines the main areas where local authorities can actively influence their energy consumption, energy efficiency and to make a contribution to climate protection.

The topics include development planning and spatial planning, municipal buildings, facilities, supply and disposal management, mobility and transport, internal organization and communication.
Municipalities from all over Germany can present their energy projects and be supported through PR work.
